The flip of a coin–who rules and who dies?

This winter, we proudly present Friedrich Schiller's play of two queens: "Mary Stuart."
Artistic director Abby Burlingame directs in a daring format: two actors will flip a coin in front of the audience to determine who will play which queen that night--both actors having learned both roles. Just as a coin flip will determine the course of each night’s show, so too can the fate of nations rest on a single action.
In "Mary Stuart," Queen Elizabeth I has imprisoned her cousin, Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. Mary’s existence threatens Elizabeth’s claim to the throne, but executing Mary would turn her into a martyr. As Mary plots her way to freedom, Elizabeth struggles to maintain control of her nation. During a secret meeting between them, they each force the other’s hands, sending the queens barreling towards their thrilling, tragic conclusions.
Join us on the Blue Door Theatre mainstage January 29th to February 8th to experience this one-of-a-kind theatrical event. (Please note this program is not a production of Blue Door Theatre.)
Interested in being involved? Separate auditions will take place for leads Mary and Elizabeth and the rest of the cast in October, with more details coming soon. If you want to be involved behind the scenes or have any additional questions, feel free to email us at inlandclassical@gmail.com.
